Meet the McLaughlin Ryder Team
of Financial Professionals
Shawn P. McLaughlin, AIF®, President and CEO
With more than thirty years of investment experience, Shawn P. McLaughlin specializes in helping individuals, businesses and associations achieve their investment goals through careful and thorough financial planning. Mr. McLaughlin began his career with a major regional brokerage firm where he spent twenty years building his practice.
Mr. McLaughlin has established a reputation for delivering customized retirement plans for both medium and small businesses, as well as not-for-profit organizations and associations.
Mr. McLaughlin holds an Accredited Investment Fiduciary™ (AIF®) designation. In a post-Enron world, plan and endowment fiduciaries expect and demand that investment advisors demonstrate that they embrace a higher standard of care. The new pension reform legislation actually calls for the investment advisor to demonstrate that the investment advice provided is delivered with a fiduciary standard of care. Mr. McLaughlin sought the AIF® designation in order to clearly identify himself to clients as someone who meets these standards.
Mr. McLaughlin earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Georgetown University and remains active as a mentor to students in Georgetown's business school. He also regularly speaks to local honor students through the Alexandria Summer Economic Institute.
Mr. McLaughlin has been active in the Northern Virginia business and civic communities for over twenty-eight years. He served on the Inova Health System Board of Trustees and is the past chairman of the Inova Foundation. Governor Mark Warner appointed Mr. McLaughlin to the Virginia Baseball Stadium Authority in 2004. In March, 2008 Mr. McLaughlin was elected to the Board of Directors of Burke & Herbert Bank which is Virginia's oldest bank.
Mr. McLaughlin was elected Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Virginia College Savings Plan (VCSP) effective January 1, 2010. The VCSP is an independent state agency that offers and manages Virginia's Internal Revenue Code Section 529 plan offerings. In January 2010 Mr. McLaughlin accepted an appointment to the Board of Visitors of the School of Business at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia.
In 2003, Mr. McLaughlin helped establish the Alexandria Police Foundation and continues to serve as the foundation's first Chairman. Mr. McLaughlin had the pleasure of serving on the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for over twelve years. His fellow business leaders elected him Chairman of the Board of the Chamber in 1994. Most notably, the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce named Mr. McLaughlin the 2005 Business Leader of the Year.
Mr. McLaughlin holds Series 7, 9 and 10, 24, 63 and 65 licenses along with his Virginia Life, Health, and Variable Life annuity insurance licenses.
Mr. McLaughlin has been a resident of Alexandria for thirty years. He and his wife Cassie have four children.

Scott A. Grebenstein, CFO
and Senior Compliance Officer
Scott Grebenstein joined McLaughlin Ryder Investments as Chief Financial Officer and Senior Compliance Officer in late 2010. Mr. Grebenstein also serves as general securities principal, options principal, and municipal securities principal for the firm.
With more than 20 years experience in the financial services industry, Mr. Grebenstein has held senior management positions at various broker-dealers in the areas of finance, sales management, and compliance.
Mr. Grebenstein began his career as a registered representative with a large regional broker-dealer in Washington, DC where he managed investment portfolios. From 1995 through 2003, he served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer for a large insurance-affiliated broker-dealer based in Bethesda, MD. More recently, Mr. Grebenstein has focused his efforts in the areas of compliance and finance with a large regional bank broker-dealer.
Mr. Grebenstein holds an undergraduate degree in Finance from the University of Maryland and an MBA from the Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. He also holds several professional licenses including FINRA Series 4, 7, 24, 27, 53, 63 and 65.

Michelle Glicklin, Principal Vice President and Compliance Officer
Michelle Glicklin brings over fifteen years of experience in the financial services industry to McLaughlin Ryder Investments. Her primary responsibilities include ensuring that all investments, account openings, transactions, and client communication matters conform strictly to regulatory requirements. Mrs. Glicklin's extensive training enables her to handle the compliance, regulatory, and business management matters of McLaughlin Ryder Investments.
Mrs. Glicklin has earned her Series 7, 9 and 10, 24, and 63 licenses, marks of distinction in the financial services industry. She also holds a Life, Health and Variable Insurance License in Virginia.
Mrs. Glicklin earned her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Brooklyn College in New York.

Julie Theobald, Principal Vice President and Director of Human Resources
Julie Theobald is a CPA who worked for KPMG LLP for 20 years, including as a partner in the Washington, DC office. She specialized in providing audit and advisory services to financial services clients, in the banking, mortgage banking, insurance, and real estate industries. She served as the Partner in Charge of a number of audits of local companies in the DC area, including some notable publicly-traded companies.
Ms. Theobald joined McLaughlin Ryder in 2014 and serves on our management team as Director of Human Resources and works on the advisory team. Her extensive background in accounting and tax matters is a valuable asset to the financial advisors working on complex analysis and planning matters on behalf of our clients. Julie earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with an emphasis in Accounting from the University of Missouri.
Ms. Theobald has been an active volunteer in the community serving on their various boards and committees and has been a leader in the Catholic Diocese of Arlington, most notably serving Catholic Charities in a variety of leadership positions. She has lived in Virginia for the past 24 years and resides in Falls Church with her two children.
Eleanor H. Maguire, First Vice President and Financial Advisor
Eleanor Maguire has spent the last thirteen years of her career advising families, foundations and endowments on all aspects of the investment planning and wealth management process. Mrs. Maguire earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Duke University.
Upon completion of her graduate degree, Mrs. Maguire joined the Investment Management Division of Goldman Sachs & Co., where she spent six years in the firm’s Private Client group. Most recently, she was then with Capital Guardian Trust Company, a sister company to the American Funds, where she managed investment portfolios for high net worth clients of the firm. Mrs. Maguire holds Series 7, 63 and 65 licenses.
Mrs. Maguire serves on the Board of Trustees of Aidan Montessori School in Washington, DC, and the non-profit Fair Chance.
A native of Old Town, Alexandria, she currently resides with her husband and young children in Washington, DC.

Carl M. Trevisan, CFP®, Senior Vice President and Financial Advisor
Carl Trevisan has 29 years of experience focusing on financial, investment, retirement, and estate planning for high net worth individuals and small businesses. Mr. Trevisan is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner and has also completed the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) program at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. His practice involves the integration of comprehensive financial planning services in assisting his clients to achieve their financial goals.
Mr. Trevisan earned a BSBA from American University and is currently a member of the Financial Planning Association. He has also previously served on the board of directors of several corporations. Carl believes that service to the community and various charities is of paramount importance in rounding out one's character. His activities include a certificate of recognition from the National Children's Cancer Society, the Omaha Home for Boys, Child Fund International, ALS Association, Boys Town, The Nature Conservancy, and many others.
Mr. Trevisan lives with his wife, Amy, and their two children, Carlin and Jack, in Alexandria, Virginia.

Stephen M. Bearce, First Vice President and Financial Advisor
Stephen Bearce has 18 years experience in aiding families, businesses and non-profit organizations in achieving their diverse financial objectives. He believes prosperity begins with a plan and utilizes a comprehensive wealth management process to help implement the most effective plan possible.
Mr. Bearce received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Providence College. Mr. Bearce has his Series 7, 63, and 65 licenses and holds licenses for life, health and variable insurance.
Mr. Bearce has served as a mentor for the Capital Partners for Education which provides high school scholarships to at-risk students and remains active with the group. He has previously worked with Habitat for Humanity building homes for needy families in the capital region.
Mr. Bearce and his wife Lauri live in Mount Vernon with their two sons.

Jameson "Jamie" Hamilton, First Vice President and Financial Advisor
Jamie Hamilton joined McLaughlin Ryder in February 2012 as a First Vice President and a member of the Potomac Wealth Group. Jamie has over 20 years of experience in the Financial Services industry. Prior to joining McLaughlin Ryder he spent 10 years as a Financial Advisor with two large, national wirehouse firms and another 9 years with an independent broker-dealer. He transitioned to the independent broker-dealer to fulfil his desire to focus on financial planning and asset management for a broader array of clientele.
Mr. Hamilton holds his series 7, 31, 63, and 65 licenses and holds licenses for Life, Health, and Variable Annuities insurance in Virginia. He earned a BS degree from James Madison University.
Jamie is also an active member of the Old Dominion Boat club and participates in many of the charitable fundraising efforts for the Lombardi Cancer Center and Our Wounded Warriors.
Jamie and his wife reside in Alexandria with their two children. Together they enjoy spending time on the water on the lower Potomac River and in the mountains of southwest Virginia.

Josh Goulding, CFP®, First Vice President
and Financial Advisor
Josh Goulding joined McLaughlin Ryder in February 2012 as a First Vice President. He is a well-known and highly regarded financial professional who specializes in working with seniors, retirees and those approaching retirement. Mr. Goulding’s vision is to provide superior service and a strong sense of financial confidence to his clients.
Mr. Goulding is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner and holds his Series 7 and 66 licenses. Josh is a graduate of Georgetown University where he earned a BA is Psychology and Pre-Med Studies, as well as an Executive Certificate in Financial Planning. Mr. Goulding is involved in the Georgetown Alumni network as well as the Washington Hebrew Congregation Community. Outside of work Josh enjoys spending time with his wife, Kate and their golden retriever, Hunter.

Potomac Wealth Group
Jamie Hamilton, Josh Goulding, Jeff Sciscilo and Jennifer Reiley have formed a team within McLaughlin Ryder Investments, Inc. called the “Potomac Wealth Group.” The team’s three core principles include solid client relationships, continuous financial planning, and a consistent investment process. Their efforts are driven around building and fostering relationships with clients and clients’ families. The foundation of this relationship depends on understanding the clients’ complete financial picture and the values and goals that are important to them. They do not believe that there is a one-size-fits-all approach to managing money for clients. Therefore, financial planning will always precede investment recommendations. The investment process is based on understanding the clients' financial goals and the underlying vehicles they recommend. These three core principles guide their everyday decisions and keep them passionate about their work.
Marika A. Husovsky, Associate Vice President
and Registered Client Service Representative
With over 15 years experience in the financial industry, Marika Husovsky joined McLaughlin Ryder Investments in 2007. Prior to joining McLaughlin Ryder Investments Ms. Husovsky spent several years as a Registered Sales Assistant at Smith Barney. Ms. Husovsky works closely with clients to ensure that all administrative and service related issues are handled in an efficient and professional manner.
Ms. Husovsky has her Series 7, 63 and 24 licenses as well as a B.A in English from the University of Maryland.

Jennifer Reiley, Associate Vice President
and Registered Client Service Representative
A native of Alexandria, Jennifer Reiley joined McLaughlin Ryder in February 2012 as an Associate Vice President. Jennifer has over 12 years of experience in the Financial Services industry. Prior to joining McLaughlin Ryder she held positions of increasing responsibility including Registered Sales Assistant and Sr. Service Center Representative at the largest independent Broker Dealer in the United States. She also served as the Director of Operations/Client Services at a Financial Planning firm in Northern Virginia.
Ms. Reiley holds a BS degree in Business with a concentration in Finance from East Carolina University where she also played Division I soccer.
She holds Series 7, 66, and 24 licenses.

Jeffrey M. Sciscilo, Jr., Associate Vice President
and Financial Advisor
Jeffrey Sciscilo joined McLaughlin Ryder in February 2012 as an Associate Vice President and has over 8 years of experience in the Financial Services industry. Prior to joining McLaughlin Ryder, Jeff held positions as Sales Assistant, Director of Trading, and Financial Advisor at several Financial Services firms in the greater Washington DC metro area.
He has his Series 7, 63, and 65 licenses and holds licenses for Life, Health, and Variable Annuities insurance in Virginia.
Mr. Sciscilo received a BA degree in Political Science and Economics with a minor in History from Christendom College in Front Royal, Virginia.

Mary Reed has been employed at McLaughlin Ryder Investments since its founding providing first-class care to our major clients who require extensive administrative services. Mrs. Reed has over fifteen years of experience working with non-profit organizations. At the national office of Catholic Charities USA, Mrs. Reed served as Director of Membership and Facilities. She also served as Associate Director and later as Interim Director at Our Little Brothers and Sisters, an organization serving poor and orphaned children in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Mrs. Reed earned her degrees in Business Administration and French from St. Mary's College. After graduation she volunteered in Honduras working with orphaned children and in Haiti helping to set up a pediatric hospital and orphanage for Our Little Brothers and Sisters. Mrs. Reed currently serves as a volunteer with Our Little Brothers and Sisters helping with Haitian relief efforts. Locally, she has served as Treasurer on the boards of St. Louis School, the Alexandria Potomac Little League and Boy Scouts in Alexandria, VA. She also currently serves as Vice President of the Diocesan PTO Executive Council for the Arlington Diocese Catholic Schools.
Mrs. Reed and her husband Roy have six children.

Beth Barrera joined McLaughlin Ryder Investments in March, 2012. Ms. Barrera greets all clients and visitors to the McLaughlin Ryder offices with her energetic personality and upbeat attitude. Her additional duties include performing a broad array of critical tasks such as client record keeping and assisting and supporting the entire McLaughlin Ryder staff in providing clients with first-class service.
Ms. Barrera returned to the corporate world after devoting 20 years to directing early childhood education programs.
A native of Colorado, Beth has lived in the Mount Vernon area for 20 years and now considers this area her home.

Eileen M. Sowa, Administrative Assistant
Eileen Sowa is the receptionist at McLaughlin Ryder Investments and is the first person you will speak to and meet when you visit our office. She enjoys greeting McLaughlin Ryder's clients and all those who call into and visit McLaughlin Ryder's office. Prior to joining McLaughlin Ryder, Mrs. Sowa worked for the Catholic Diocese of Arlington for 28 years.
Mrs. Sowa is a native Washingtonian and has lived in Northern Virginia for many years.

Oscar P. Ryder (Deceased), Senior Vice President
Oscar Ryder joined McLaughlin Investments, LLC in 2006 as Senior Vice President. Mr. Ryder and McLaughlin Investments, LLC shared and embraced the philosophy that integrity and client service are always the top priority. Oscar Ryder was considered the dean of the Alexandria financial community and brought his five decades of experience and expertise in the financial services industry with him to McLaughlin Investments, LLC.
With their shared commitment to integrity, expertise, old-fashioned personal service, and sound advice McLaughlin Investments, LLC and Oscar P. Ryder became McLaughlin Ryder Investments in 2007.
Early in his career Mr. Ryder opened and managed the first New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) branch brokerage office in Northern Virginia. He owned his own brokerage firm, which merged with Reynolds Securities and, several mergers later, ultimately became Morgan Stanley.
The hallmarks of Mr. Ryder's business were always integrity, expertise, and client service. His greatest asset was the trust given to him by generations of Alexandrians whom he felt honored to serve.
Mr. Ryder had a deep and abiding interest in the history of his hometown and founded the Historic Alexandria Antique show over fifteen years ago. He also founded and was chair of Antiques in Alexandria, now one of the largest shows on the eastern seaboard. Proceeds from the shows are donated to various non-profit and community service organizations in Alexandria.
McLaughlin Ryder Investments is honored to have had Oscar P. Ryder as an influential member of their team. Mr. Ryder's commitment to sound advice and old-fashioned personal service are his legacy and remain fully embraced at McLaughlin Ryder Investments today.
