2009 – Shawn P. McLaughlin was appointed to the board of trustees of the Virginia College Savings Plan by Governor Timothy Kaine

2008 – McLaughlin Ryder Investments was honored as the Business Philanthropist of the Year by the Alexandria Volunteer Bureau.

2007 – Laurie Blackburn received the volunteer “Teacher's Assistant” of the year award from Alexandria Education Partnership for her support of education in Alexandria.

2006-2007 – McLaughlin Ryder Investments received the Business Council Gold Award by the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra.

2005 – Shawn P. McLaughlin was named the Alexandria Business Leader of the Year by the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce.
